Leverage Government's Upskilling And Reskilling Program To Future-proof Talents In The Economic Uncertainties Post-COVID-19

The chaotic response to the Covid-19 has hit business hard. The virus is super lethal that it has forced more than 30,000 businesses in Malaysia to shut its door. There is no sign of the virus would stop its wrath anytime soon. So what can businesses do to stay afloat in these unprecedented times?

One key trait of a business that manages to stay afloat is innovating and thinking about the future and this pandemic has brought forward five years of the digitization journey.

Now, the business landscape has changed. Businesses started embracing flexible work arrangements, prioritizing increased productivity and performance to ensure that skills and their business continue to remain relevant.

In this age of digitization, data plays a vital role in evaluating, predict, automate, or even influence different tasks or phenomena, which would result in a more resilient working environment.

The Malaysian government recognized the need to reinvent Malaysia’s digital economy. Many programs are established for the digital revolution. The National Strategic ICT Roadmap and Digital Malaysia and Industry4WD are among the government’s efforts to accelerate economic growth.

The short-term economic recovery plan was introduced for businesses to cope with the downward effect cause by Covid-19. This plan aims to spur business growth as a crucial driver to stimulate the economic recovery and to tackle the issue of unemployment.

The Penjana Kerjaya 2.0 hiring incentive program is now available for employers to partake. This program allows employers to hire new employees, upskill or reskill their newly appointed talents.

CADS programs are also recognized under PenjanaKerjaya2.0. This small effort helps organizations groom future-ready talents with the data science and analytics skills for business to brace the challenges as the landscape swiftly moves towards digitization.

Businesses can’t take all of their problems away, but participating in programs like this would increase the levels of preparedness and resilience, which will then determine a given organization’s path out of the crisis and its workforce.
